🤔What’s the worst Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
😩 How about a bad test result two days before Christmas?
After getting some family history a few weeks ago, I made a doctor’s appointment for an annual physical. It was on a whim. I didn’t expect anything to be wrong. But on Monday evening, my doctor told me preliminary blood results indicate I am diabetic.
Pretty horrifyingly bad Christmas gift.
I’ve spent the week thinking … What does this mean? How does this impact my life? What does it do for traveling?
→ I don’t have all the answers. That’s why I turn to professionals - doctors - who know a lot more than I do and can allow me to make informed decisions.
→ How important it is to be mindful of exercising, eating, drinking water. Even traveling. Mindfulness needs to be more than just lip service.
→ As a lover of cruising, I know how difficult it can be to watch what you eat … on most ships. I am even more excited that my next cruise will be on Virgin Voyages. With no buffets and assigned dining rooms, I will have lots of eating choices. Also, there is an emphasis on wellness onboard. Whether I feel like yoga or boxing, spinning or weights, I can pick and choose what I want to do.
→ Trips around wellness are more my focus. Wellness = Spas. If you aren’t a member of @RebelontheGo, join now if you want to see my post about the best spas in the world. I need to make sure I am as healthy as I can be.
→ Be more active when I travel. I’m looking at experiences - like National Geographic Journeys, Uncruises, Backroads and Austin Adventures - with biking, hiking, kayaking, trekking options while still enjoying creature comforts AND food options that meet my new dietary needs. And to incorporate lots of activity into upcoming trips to San Juan and Stockholm.
This will be my last video before we hit 2020. I wish everyone a wonderful New Year's Eve and a great, great start to 2020.
